How does a game begin?

Go to the gaming–lobby to find other players

All games that you can play against real opponents can be found on the start page. When you start a game you will enter a virtual gaming room (Lobby). Other logged-in players are located at the individual gaming tables.

As a trainee player you will arrive in a „Fun-Lobby“. Here you can play with GameCash which you will have received for your successful registration. As a cash player, (meaning that you have previously made a cash deposit) you always arrive in the „Cash-Lobby“. Detailed information on cash deposits can be found at„Deposits and Payouts“. By color coding and play level you can determine the strength of a player. Luck is not the determining factor but rather predominantly skill and competence of victory or defeat.

The following game functions apply to both the „Fun“ as well as the „Cash“ Lobby.“.

up

The Lobby

Click on a game in the game overview. It will load in the same browser window and the virtual lobby will appear. The screen is divided into two sections: On the left side you can view a list of registered players in the lobby. Your credit is displayed in the row above your user name. On the right hand side of the user name you can view the limit that particular player wants to play for. 4 buttons are situated below the players list: With „Player Info“ you can access the game statistics of a player, with „Invite“ you can invite one person for a private game. „Private“ means that the function „Watch“ is switched off for other players. With „New Friend“ you can add a player to your list of friends. If chat messages from other players bother you, this can be disabled with "Ignore". On the right side the virtual gaming tables are displayed. There you can see who plays for which stake at the individual tables.

After you have gained an insight you can implement the first settings for your game in the next step.

up

Open a new game

Click on "New Game". A window will appear where you can determine participants of the game, their skill and stake. Then your newly opened gaming table will appear on the table overview. If it is a game where you don’t have to play simultaneously with the other player (i.e.: dice), your actual gaming window will already open now. The stake can still be changed immediately before the start of a game.

If it is a game where your team player(s) must be present at the table at the same time (i.e.: skat or billard), it can happen that none will sit down at your opened gaming table. In such a case you have the option to vacate your gaming table by clicking on the „X“ button. You arrive back at the table overview and you can now seek a new gaming option. You can also directly invite a specific player for a game from the Lobby by clicking on their name and then on „Invite“.

up

Joining a game

If you see a simple occupied table with a yellow „Play“ button in the table overview, it means that someone is waiting for a team player. Click on „Play“ if you wish to sit down at this table. If you don’t wish to sit down yet, you can just leave the game. You can also take part by merely being a bystander by clicking the button on a table which looks like a “small blue eye”. With some games (such as dice) you can only watch your own opponent if you have already completed your game.

up

Minimum stake and limit

The minimum stake depends on the relevant game – starting generally with approx. 10 cents per game – and is displayed in the game help for the relevant game under „Stakes and user fees“. The maximum game stake, also known as limit depends on the number of completed games. Thus, the more experienced the player, the higher their game limit. This serves as a protection for new cash players who are not as experienced as the „old hand”.

For current games offered by BeatYa, limits are as follows:

Stake options from number of games played
Gamename 0 3 10 30
8-Ball Billard € 1,50 € 3,00 € 7,00 € 20,00
Backgammon € 5,00 n/a € 15,00 € 100,00

Chat

A text entry field with a “Send” button is situated on the right lower end of the Lobby-View. It is available in the Lobby as well as in the gaming table view. You can then send a message to the Lobby which can be viewed and replied to by all logged in players of this game or you can send a message to your opponent during the game. However you can also send a message to the Lobby during the game by switching the change button from “Game Chat” to “Room Chat”.

Controls and Icons in detail

One of the most frequently asked questions by users is "what is the actual meaning of those tiny symbols and signs in the lobby and on the gaming table?"

Here is your explanation – it may seem complicated at first, but when you start to get familiar with them, these tiny symbols can be very helpful - and it is all set up logically even when it does seem confusing at first [:)].

Left Lobby-Area

New Game - Options

When opening a new gaming table, the following table options can be selected with most games, by clicking „New Game“:

Additional buttons/options at relevant tables:

"Knock-Out"

By using the „Knock-Out“ button, a player can knock his opponent out of an ongoing game, providing that player do not react within 2 minutes or longer. This is especially useful if e.g. the opponent has lost connection to the server. In addition this button enables a player to knock bystanders out of the game. Just highlight and click the name of the user to be knocked-out in the status window and then click on the “Knock-Out” button.

"Registration"

If you are in an ongoing game as a bystander you can register for the next game by using the „Register“ button. If multiple bystanders register in one ongoing game, registrations will be accepted in order of time.

"Exit"

If you do not wish to register for the next game as a bystander you can exit the ongoing game by clicking on the „Exit“ button.

Sound

The sound can be switched off by clicking the small boxes. This is especially useful if you are using a slow internet connection and/or a slow PC, to release resources for a quicker game process. If you click this button again the sound will be re-activated.

Modes and color coding – and what is a „BeatYa Master“?

To warrant fairness in a game for money play wins and play stakes are considered when calculating the play level which is calculated in real time. Play level values are between 1200 and 3200 points.

The value of the level is calculated after each game and displayed next to the player’s name. New players start at the introduction phase (10 games) with a level value of 1600. Subsequently the actual level is displayed.

The status classification takes place based on the achieved play level in the relevant game.

The play level is displayed in the players list, next to the nickname.

Thus you can also view the play level of other players on the profile page. The descriptions correspond to the play levels and color coding in the games and represent an average of play levels in games which the relevant player has participated in.

The table below will illustrate that only few achieve to become BeatYa Masters. To become a BeatYa Legend is very difficult – a lot more remain a BeatYa Legend – the Legend confirms, that there are some who manage to remain a BeatYa Legend.

Play Level – Table for cash players
from to
1200 1600 BeatYa Rookie
1601 1950 BeatYa Amateur
1951 2250 BeatYa Pro
2251 2600 BeatYa Master
2601 3200 BeatYa Legend

Beginners on the platform start with a starting value of 1600 and are known as „BeatYa Greenhorn“, as they have not managed to prove their skill to play the game for real money.
